Thanks and Acknowledgments

Thanks be to the triune God, the Numinous, the Fascinating, the Wonderful, the Majestic, and all that He, the Mysterium Tremendum, is, the One who fills all in all, and the One who is the All in All.

Thanks, as always, to the players. “You’re only as good as the company you’re keeping,” is what Rick Murray says. That’s especially true with regard to him, Robby Meadows, Jeremy Medkiff, Joel Key, Will McFarlane, Cindy Richardson Walker, Marie Tomlinson Lewey, Christian Howes, Greg Byers, Leonor Falcon, Christopher Marion, and Ricky Skaggs (Ricky Skaggs appears courtesy of Skaggs Family Records).

Thanks to Jimmy Nutt and Cody Simmons, sound engineers, for what they do for me at The Nutthouse Recording Studio in Sheffield (Muscle Shoals), Alabama, one of the coolest places on earth.

I want to thank Robby Meadows particularly for graciously sharing with me, at Alive! Studios in Harrisonburg, VA—another one of the coolest places on earth—not only his great talents, both musical and technical, but his love, friendship, and support over the years.

Thanks to my “benefactors,” and Teresa Tyson Radford leads the list. She deserves a medal, or something, for putting up with my ups-and-downs, missteps, and misgivings all these years. Gayle Davis, whose generosity I can’t fathom, is at the very top, too. Gene Thomas, my friend and brother, is the first minister peer who recognized and acknowledged that this music is a real ministry, and not just another “CD project.” I am grateful to all of you for your love and friendship.

Thanks again to Jonathan Hornsby for all the helpful suggestions and comments, for being a good friend and fellow minister—and sounding board/prayer partner—and generally for keeping me focused and on point. Blessings on you.

Thanks to Cross Rhythms (UK and beyond), Revival 100.8 (Scotland) and to blues guitarist Lins Honeyman, host of The Gospel Blues Train, a unique and Holy Spirit-anointed radio program, for proclaiming the gospel of the risen Christ Jesus and for allowing me to be a part of their vision.

Review by Lins Honeyman of Cross Rhythms Music & Life

"West Virginia-based singer/songwriter, pastor and pianist Radford has made up for a relatively late start as a recording artist by releasing his fourth album in as many years. As with previous releases, Radford offers up an eclectic set of songs that cover a range of subject matters with skill. Delivered with his trademark warm and gentle vocal delivery and with an impressive backroom team that consists of Bonnie Raitt guitarist Will McFarlane and renowned producer Robby Meadows amongst others, Radford evidences his substantial theological knowledge to good effect in the title track before riffing off the thoughts of a French Catholic philosopher in the intelligent but accessible "Maritain Said". Keen to reference songs that are dear to his heart, the likes of Wesley's "O Love Divine, What Hast Thou Done" and Lowry's "Nothing But The Blood" are given the Radford treatment whilst a cover of the Reverend Gary Davis number "Oh, Glory How Happy I Am" sees all involved on top form. Elsewhere, delightful covers of Van Morrison's "Into The Mystic" and the Allman Brothers instrumental "Little Martha" - the latter featuring a mandolin cameo from country legend Ricky Skaggs - add even more variety to proceedings whilst the wry "Pastor Of A Local UMC" is one of many highlights on Radford's best release to date."
