Was fleshed out in the light of you.
With no divisions in their mind,
They had no doubts of any kind,
They lived their lives without a care,
They felt your presence everywhere.
But then one day,
You searched for them and called their name,
They’d disobeyed,
And hid to cover up their shame,
Then you cried out,
“My children, O what have you done?”
And Adam shouted, “My God, I have fallen.”

The sons of Adam went to sleep.
While deep kept calling unto deep,
The Spirit-life that Adam lost
Would have to wait for Pentecost.
And in the fullness of the time
You sent your very most sublime:
The Son of Heaven, giving earth
A second Adam, second birth.
And on the cross,
You bore our sin and took our pain,
You suffered loss—
Your life—for our eternal gain,
Your sacrifice
Forever broke the curse of death,
And rising from the grave
You reign triumphant. |
